Cheap Melbourne Foodies Guide

This is a list of my fave reasonably priced places for a Melbourne trip.

Let me know if you go and check any of them out, or have any of your own recommendations! Also thank you to everyone that recommended places and things to do. Click on the picture to be taken to the website.

Everything below is GF/DF and Vegan unless stated otherwise :

Matcha Mylkbar

http://www.matchamylkbar.com/ 72A Acland Street, St Kilda

The entire menu here is Vegan and most of it can be made gluten free! You might need to wait a little as it can get extremely busy but it is well worth the wait. Also the perfect spot for instagram pics inside, there are even some insta props in the corner.

Mockturtle Cafe

This is such a cute place in the laneways! If you are going to Melbourne the laneways is a must do. The menu here had eggs and toast as well as things such as muesli and chia porridge.

Spud Bar

https://spudbar.com.au/ Multiple locations

The best thing about this place is that the entire menu is gluten free! There are options for everyone on this menu whether you eat meat or don't. You can also have your potato as either white or sweet (sweet potato was the obvious choice).

Raw Trader

This place was so full of delicious treats! Everything in the cabinet was GF/DF/VEGAN. There was so much to choose from so as well as eating in I got the Snack Pack pictured here which had a raw passionfruit donut, raw caramel slice and a bliss ball.

Max Brenner Chocolate Lounge

https://maxbrenner.com.au/ Multiple locations

I used to love Max Brenner before going dairy free. I was so happy to see this time that they had new vegan options on the menu including the Sinful Dark Vegan. This drink is dark melted chocolate with your choice of milk (I went with almond). If you are not dairy free then the chocolate shot is for you.

Little Cupcakes

https://littlecupcakes.com.au/ Shop 7, Degraves Street, Melbourne

I couldn't believe that the two cupcakes pictured here were vegan and gluten free with vegan cream cheese frosting! They also had mini versions. It was insane how real the icing tasted on these cupcakes. They were so good that we went back every day!

Grill'd

https://www.grilld.com.au/ Multiple locations

Recommended Items: Zucchini Chips

Sweet Potato Chips

Simon Says (chicken)

Veggie Vitality

If you are going to get any sides go for the chip share platter because it has one of each of the chips. Highly recommend the zucchini chips taste like melted cheese! These burgers also taste so healthy, the one pictured to the left is the Veggie Vitality.

Cafe E Biscotti

This little laneways gem is so cute with its decor. Had the best coconut milk cappucino here. The menu items were typical breakfast but so fresh and flavoursome. Especially the drizzle of balsamic oil. It gets pretty busy so your best to get their early if its breakfast you're after.

Thr1ve

https://thrivemeals.com.au/ Multiple Locations

I had heard about Thr1ve through instagram and it was great, just what I normally eat. Pictured here is the build your own bowl with black beans, avocado, roasted mushrooms, sweet potato, seasonal greens, veggies and lemon drizzle=HEAVEN. Also delicious raw slices.

Guzman Y Gomez

I know this is a takeaway place but the Mexican trumped any I'd had in New Zealand. I got the veggie burrito bowl and can I just say I've never had so much guac added in my life! Pretty much a whole avocado and the black beans were drizzled in a delicious sauce.
